Tutorials
Note: many of these doll sites are focused on clothing and decorating naked 'base' dolls. They often have clearly-defined bodies (including the chest) but are not intended for sexual purposes. It's not much different from a naked barbie--just don't be alarmed!
- Kawaii Hannah: From pixel art basics through more complicated later stages, including palettes, patterns, and animation resources.
- Appledust Pixel Cafe: General pixel art tutorial, found under "you". I like this one because I love seeing bunnies (I also have a bunny).
- Wayuki's Place: Excellent clothing and hair tutorials plus a large number of palettes!
- Ninique's Minidollz: Great series of beginner and MS Paint tutorials plus palettes and some web coding tips.
- Designwell: Pixel and vexel tutorials; not all of them are available in English. Use "preview" to see if it's something you'd be interested in learning about.
- Disappeared Element: Face and hair techniques, plus skin tone palettes.
- Sparkling Ice: More resources than tutorials: palettes, patterns, brushes, and some coding
- Sprite Sprout: Full walkthrough including useful tips and definitions
- Xandorra's Place (archived): Lots of doll-related tutorials, and many of the images still intact! Xandorra's place also offers links to tutorials on many other sites (altho not all of them are well preserved).
- Daeva's Dolleria (archived): Start-to-finish dollmaking tutorial and some pixel art exercises (pop-up window).
- Packaged Bliss (archived): Excellent hair tutorial
- Doll on the Hill Factory (archived): Many of the tutorial images are gone, but the advice can still be helpful. Found under "goodies".
- Apitchou (archived): Resources include palettes and pre-made line-art for practicing your coloring!
