Laura was raised in Oasis Springs as the only child of activist Chihiro and alien Karl Chavez. She led a privileged life as a teenager and married her childhood love Shelly Faust shortly after graduating high school, where they had met in the drama club.

Death struck Laura like a ma- tch on the day of the birth of her first child, and in flames she went up-- dead, but for Shelly's inter- ference. Her days in the spotlight were over, replaced by a fear of fire and heightened stress response. Laura became a critic and quit quickly. Next, she turned her focus inward: self-care, medi- tation, focus. It was the only way she knew to keep her bal- ance.
